An orchid species called "Flower of the Holy Spirit" starts blooming during Pentecost each year. Before it blooms, the flower looks like praying saints. When the flower blooms, it looks like a flying dove.
The Flower of the Holy Spirt, or Holy Ghost Orchid is the national flower of Panama-- Flor del Espiritu Santo as it is known in Spanish. Its scientific name is Peristeria Elata Orchidaceae. The name Peristeria in Greek means “from dove”.
